From Gary and Mary Brownell, on Friday, October 8, 2010
We were so sorry to hear of Gene’s death this week. Thank you for making sure the news was available in Racine where the Lamberton’s spent so many years. Gary personally remembers the joy of being with Gene at church and when Scott and I visisted at the cottage in Door County. I will never forget Mary Alice saying we had cherry pie for dessert. She asked how we wanted it served. Gene promptly replied ‘quarters’ before anyone else could speak up. It was the first time I had ever had a quarter of a pie, though I certainly knew t hat Mary Alice’s Door County cherry pie is among the best dessert one can get.
Gene was a gracious man giving his time and talents. He was always helpful with our old trucks. I was just looking at pictures of them the other day to get my slides put into digital media. I was remembering how Gene helped us paint the 1955 box side 1/2 ton we restored.
Gene was loved and will be missed.

Sally Linenfelser
From judy & gary Johnson, on Friday, May 7, 2010
Sally meant a great deal to all of us who knew her. A kind and caring person, she always knew when your birthday was, as she saved all the information from the personal columns in the newspapers and invitations sent to her. She will be missed; she was a mainstay in our family for many years.

From Ronald LeDonne, on Friday, June 4, 2010
Sally and Clarence were wonderful friends of our family. We were yearly vacationers in Clam Lake since the 60’s. I think of Clam Lake as my second home. Sally was always wonderful to be around and such an enjoyable person full of love and energy. Her family loss of her daughter was devastating to herself and Clarence. I was helpful to Sally when I was up in Clam Lake. I remember painting the side of her home years after Clarence passed on. “Sally you are now with peace with your daughter and husband! Amen”

From Shirley Guagenti, on Friday September 10, 2010

From S Ford, on Wednesday, January 11, 2012
I am so very sorry for your loss. Please know that God will comfort and sustain you. Psalms 34:18 says that He is near to those broken at heart and saves those crushed in spirit. He truly knows the pain you feel. He assures us at John 5:28 that a time will soon come when we will welcome back to our arms those we have lost. Know that time is very near. Allow God to comfort your soul until that day arrives. Please keep His promises close to your heart. I offer my deepest sympathies to your entire family.

From Bruce Kelly on Thursday, January 26, 2012
I would like to express my sympathy.
I had a great experience in my early years in working with Gene in Madison. Gene taught me many things that I was able to use in my construction career. He took me under his wing and was a kind and patient teacher. To me, Gene was the kind of person and carpenter I tried to imitate in my life. It gives me great sadness to hear of his passing, but great memories when I think of the times we shared on the jobsite.

Mary Kay, so so sorry to learn of Mag’s sudden death, and your loss. I was at the funeral, but did not get a chance to speak to you given all that was happening. I hope in time you can get back to something close to a normal life, and please let me know if there is anything I can do to help. It was a long time ago now, but the memories I have of the growing up years in Ashland with our crew are priceless. I thought of so many stories and events we shared, hard to believe really. I’m so sorry Jon’s life had to be taken so abruptly and for the turmoil it must put you in.. Be well and know we are sharing a tiny bit of your loss.

Dear Mary Kay and family: I just learned of Jon’s passing this week after reading a memorium in the U.W. Superior alumni paper. I was shocked to say the least. You probably have no idea who I am but I was a good friend of Jon’s when we were biology majors together at Superior. We played on the same intramural basketball team for a couple of years also. I really missed Jon after college and always wanted to reconnect with him and catch up on his life since those times many years ago. I am truley saddened that I never took the time to follow up on this. I have missed and now will continue to miss him. I am so sorry for you and your family’s loss. To the family of “Big Joe”
I knew Joe from working at the Days Inn in International Falls, MN. He was one of a kind and he will truly be missed by everyone. He always had great stories to tell and never once did he seem like he was in a bad mood. Always seemed cheerful and would go across the parking lot to the Chocolate Moose and eat grilled cheese sandwiches. Joe was always very pleasant with everybody. I will never forget him. By telling his stories and chanting names, and so much more, he will always be remembered. To me he will always be Big Joe. My condolences to his family and friends. I am truly sorry for your loss! –

From Mary Beth (Carlson) Cleary, on Monday, October 11, 2010
I was in High School at Frederic, Wisconsin when the “McAbee” brothers were also attending school. Joe and his brothers would tower above everyone else as they walked down the halls of the school and as they sat in their classes. I would marvel at their height and also at their basketball skills that left us as fellow students with wonderful memories of them gliding down the basketball courts with seemingly little effort, depositing the basketball in the basket, to lead our school in many wins against rivaling country high schools. Thanks, Joe, for the memories!

Brad and/or Jody (Bill):
My brother Buz showed me the obituary for your brother Joe. I never knew Joe personally, but if he was as nice as you, I know he will be much missed.
I had heard that Bill (who I knew as Jody from Alabama school days and a good fisherman friend) had passed away a few years ago…….the obituary I read contradicted itself, I thought. At any rate, I hope you’re both alive and doing as well as can be expected.
Feel free to write if you have the time and inclination. It would be nice to hear from you.
Take care. Best to all.

To the Family of Lawrence “Larry” J. Mocello,
I feel deeply for your loss. I hope your grieving for Larry is short, because he is in a better place but that you memories of him live forever – I know mine will. I had the brief but great experience of knowing Larry for the past three years as a volunteer through Faith in Action. Larry truly helped me to enjoy the little things in life. He also taught me a great deal about life. I enjoyed listening to him recall the past and playing Wii bowling with him, even though I could never beat him. :) The joy he brought to my life and my memory of him will live on.
God Bless,
