Condolences P-R

John P. Padjen

From jerry bauch, on Thursday, February 17, 2011

I was shocked to learn about John’s death a few minutes ago. We met for coffee almost every summer day for the past five years and I am really going to miss him. He helped me with all kinds of advice when I was building my cabin (and most of it was good!), Coffee at the Shell just won’t be the same.

John T. Padjen

From Marilyn Hicken McKay, on Friday, April 23, 2010

To John Padjen family: Marilyn, Tom and Jill, Kim and Mark and families:

My deepest sympathies to all of you.

I have many memories of the bar. My dad loved watching Kim waitress/bus tables. We had fish fry nearly every Friday. When the fish fries ended my parents never found another place they liked as well. During the week the bar was our destination on snowmobiles for a quick evening ride with either the Justices or Poppes, or both. One night we were out there and everyone wanted to know why in the world we were out there when it was 20 below. Well, when we left home it was warm at our house: 12 above.

Of course Ted loved his pinball and a pizza after going to a show in Ashland.

Rev. 21:4, 5: “‘[God] will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.’ And the One seated on the throne said: ‘Look! I am making all things new.’ Also, he says: ‘Write, because these words are faithful and true.’”

Roger is my uncle. When our parents divorced, our grandparents took us in. Roger and Aunt Dolly were still at home, so they were more like older brother and sister to us.

I am living in Pennsylvania and was saddened to read about Roger’s passing in the Ashland Daily Press, he will never be forgotten.
