Irene C. Warren
Irene C. Warren, age 96, of Ashland, Wisconsin, passed away on Friday, July 30, 2010, at the Golden Living Center-Court Manor, in Ashland.
Irene was born, on April 4, 1914, in Glidden, Wisconsin, the daughter of Robert M. and Ottila (Rominsky) Quinn. She graduated from Glidden High School in 1933. She and Norman A. Warren were united in marriage, in Carlton, Minnestoa, on Oct 22, 1934. Irene was a homemaker and a charter member of the Ashland Garden Club, and for many years, participated in their holiday green show. She was a member of the Ashland Elks Lodge. In 1971 she was the chairwoman for the Elks Lodge Landscaping Project. Irene was a member of: the Ashland Monday Club, the Ashland Historical Society, the Garland City Chatty Red Hatties and was the chairwoman for the Ashland County Cancer Crusade. She was a former member of the Lake Shore Art Association and was herself an artist of oil and water colors. She was very active in helping her husband Norman with Boy Scouts and Kiwanis Club activities. She enjoyed alpine and cross country skiing and playing golf.
Survivors include: her son, Bruce (Sylvia) Warren, of Janesville, Wisconsin; two step-great-grandchildren: Terrie and Toni; three step great great-grandchildren; her sister, Della M. Sassa of Morehead, North Carolina; a very special niece, Carol (James) Schraufnagel, of Ashland; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Irene was preceded in death by: her husband, Norman, on October 15, 2000; her parents; her sister, Ellen Schraufnagel; and three brothers: Earl, Thomas and James; and her sister-in-law, Joyce Quinn.
A gathering, for family and friends, will begin at 2 p.m., Saturday, August 7, 2010, at the Mountain Funeral Home, in Ashland, and continue until the hour of service.
A Memorial Service, for Irene, will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, August 7, 2010, at the Mountain Funeral Home, in Ashland. Father Gary Bernhardt, O.F.M. will officiate. The Eulogist will be Leana Schraufnagel.
Interment, in the Mount Hope Cemetery, Ashland, will take place at 1 p.m., Monday, August 9, 2010.
Memorials are preferred to Mount Hope Cemetery or the Ashland Historical Museum.
Our Ashland Chapel will be assisting Irene’s family with her memorialization.
