Mrs. Robert Beatrice Ann (MacLean) Trautt

Mrs. Robert Beatrice Ann (MacLean) Trautt, age 89, of Iron River, Wisconsin, went home to the Lord on Mother’s Day, May 13, 2012, at the Memorial Medical Center in Ashland, Wisconsin, surrounded by her loving family.

Beatrice was born on August 18, 1922, in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of William Plynette and Beatrice Ann (Chesney) MacLean. She attended elementary school in Herbster, Wisconsin and graduated from Morton High School in Cicero, Illinois. She met her cherished husband, Robert, while on summer holiday, in Herbster, and they were married on June 17, 1940, in Carlton, Minnesota. They moved to Iron River, in 1950, where she and Bob reared their family of eleven children. Beatrice was a selfless woman, dedicating her life to her family.

Beatrice is survived by her children: Robert (Carol) Trautt, of Marion, Ohio; Norma (Gordon) Carlson, of Duluth, Minnesota; William (Shirley) Trautt, of Iron River; Patricia (John) Terpstra, of Delevan, Wisconsin; Carol (Joseph) Moravchik, of Mason, Wisconsin; Kathleen (Joseph) Ceasar, of Houston, Texas; Beverly (Ed) Patterson, of Iron River; Barbara (Howard) Lindren, of Genoa, Wisconsin; Thomas (Donna Warbalow) Trautt, of Iron River; Laura (James) Armstrong, of Wappingers Falls, New York; and Steven (Shari) Trautt of Duluth. She is also survived by: her brother, Robert MacLean, of Alliance, Ohio; her sister, Kim MacLean, of Golden Valley, Minnesota; her half-sister, Ethel (Punky) Griffin, of Altos, California. Beatrice was blessed with sixty three grandchildren, one hundred great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by: her husband, Robert, on January 9, 1999; two grandchildren: Steven Trautt and James Armstrong; one great grandchild, Nicky Ronstrom; her parents; her brother, William MacLean; and her sister, Jean McKinley. Beatrice was also preceded in death by: her daughters-in-law: Roberta, Beverly, Laurie and Debbie; sons-in-law: Gordon Carlson, Marvin Schonter, Dan Bock, Sam Schniedmiller and David Larson.

Beatrice will be laid to rest at the Iron River City Cemetery, Iron River. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.

Memorials may be made, in her honor, to the Iron River Library at Post Office Box 145, Iron River, Wisconsin 54847.

Gerhart Joseph ‘Gary’ Lutz

Gerhart Joseph ‘Gary’ Lutz, age 65, of Upson, Wisconsin, passed away on Wednesday, May 9, 2012, at the Saint Joseph’s Hospital, in Marshfield, Wisconsin.

Gary was born on August 12, 1946, in Shanagolden, Wisconsin, the son of Christ and Josephine (Hanson) Lutz. He grew up in Mellen, Wisconsin, and Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He graduated from West Division High School and received his degree in accounting from the Milwaukee Institute of Technology, in Milwaukee. He and Sheila J. Bjork were united in marriage, in Ironwood, Michigan, on June 21, 1973. He recently celebrated 39 years as an accountant for Columbia Forest Products in Mellen. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, in Glidden, Wisconsin, and served as a communion assistant. He taught hunters safety, in Hurley, Wisconsin, for over 20 years and loved working with children. He was the rock that held his family together even when he was fighting his battle with cancer. He was a very kind, gentle and loving man who would help anyone in need. He loved deer hunting with his very special brothers, family and friends. He had many fond memories of the yearly fishing trips to Canada with his parents, brothers, sisters and families. He loved spending time at his summer home in Glidden.

Survivors include: his wife of 39 years, Sheila, of Upson; and children: Alan (Theresa) Conley, and Denise Conley, all of Mellen; and David (Brenda) Lutz, of Glidden. Survivors also include his grandchildren: Paul (Casey), Brandon, Krystina, Christopher ‘CJ’ Conley, Alexander ‘Ali’ and Hailey Lutz of Mellen; and great-grandchildren: Trinity and Xander Conley. Survivors also include his brothers: George (Cathy) of Wausau, Wisconsin; James (Jill), Kenneth (Denise), Michael (LeAnn), all of Mellen; his sister: Pam (Donald) Ekholm, of Washburn, Wisconsin; sisters-in-law: Barb Lutz, of Schofield, Wisconsin; and Diane Lutz, of Mellen; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; brothers: Christ and Rick; and an infant niece, Trisha Lutz.

A Gathering, for family and friends, will be will be held at the Trinity Lutheran Church, in Glidden, beginning at 10 a.m. at Saturday, May 12, 2012 and continuing until the hour of service.

A memorial service, for Gary, will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 12, 2012, at the Trinity Lutheran Church, in Glidden. Reverend Stanley Bahn will officiate.

Private interment will take place at a later date.

William J. ‘Bill’ Roffers

William J. ‘Bill’ Roffers, age 74, of Ashland, Wisconsin, passed away on Tuesday, May 1, 2012, at the Essentia Saint Mary’s Medical Center, in Duluth, Minnesota.

Bill was born on November 10, 1937, in Ashland, the son of William A. and Frances (Bradle) Roffers. He graduated from DePadua High School in 1955. After High School he worked at the Saint Croix Fishing Rod factory in Park Falls, Wisconsin, for a year and a half.

He then enlisted in the U.S. Army and attained the rank of specialist. He worked in the military personal center at Fort Chaffee, Arkansas. His duties included taking care of the records of all military personnel to be shipped, from the Fort, to assignment posts all over the world. He also interviewed the prisoners being held in the Fort’s stockade.

Upon discharge he attended Northland College. His father passed away in 1959, and Bill was forced to leave college after only a few months. He ran the family business, Bradle Distributing, for his mother until the early 1970’s, when he purchased the business and operated it until 1990. He sold the business due to the years of a bad heart, numerous heart attacks, three heart surgeries, and many other procedures.

He and Kathleen J. Cabe were united in marriage, in Ashland, on May 20, 1961. Together they raised five children. Upon retirement, Bill and Kathy bought a condominium in Arizona and wintered there together for ten years before Kathy passed away on March 15, 2001. After Kathy’s passing, Bill still spent seven to eight months a year there, coming home, to Wisconsin, for the summers.

Bill belonged to the WBFA #126, was a life member of the Knights of Columbus, and served as Grand Knight in the early 1960’s. He was a fifty year member and past Exalted Ruler of the Ashland Elks Lodge #137. He was also a member of the Catholic War Vets. He was an avid Packers and Brewers fan: annually traveling with his family to Milwaukee for a Brewers game, and annually traveling all over the United States, with four or five friends, to cheer for the Green Bay Packers.

Bill is survived by his five children: Cindy (Ray) Korpela, Sandra Lee Bennett (Ken Schmidt) and William G. (Terri), all of Ashland; Brian (Amy), of Iron River, Wisconsin; and Cheryl (Brian) Tody, of Sanborn, Wisconsin. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Amy (Jeremy), Craig (Jackie), Trisha (Jacob), Danny Joe, Aaron, Kimberly, William K., Hannah, Brittny , Duane and Briana; and great-grandchildren: Brooklyn, Connor, Maggie, Avery, Alexis, Nolan, Griffin and Isaac.

Besides his wife Kathy, he was preceded in death by his parents, his sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Norm Clark.

A gathering, for family and friends, will be held at the Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, in Ashland, beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 5, 2012, and continuing until the hour of service.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial, for Bill, will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 5, 2012, at the Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, in Ashland. Father William Brenna will be the Celebrant.

Interment in Saint Agnes Cemetery, Ashland, will immediately follow the Mass. Military honors will be provided by the United Chequamegon Area Veterans.

Memorials are preferred by the family to Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, in Ashland, or Regional Hospice, 1913 Beaser Avenue, Ashland, Wisconsin 54806.

Helen K. Joanis

Helen K. Joanis, age 92 of Ashland, Wisconsin, passed away on Monday, April 23, 2012, at the Memorial Medical Center, in Ashland.

Helen was born on November 20, 1919, in Ashland, the daughter of Frank and Mayme (Schlies) Dvorak. She attended St. Agnes grade school; graduated from DePadua High School, in Ashland, in the class of 1937; and then attended Saint Joseph’s School of Nursing in Ashland. Upon graduation she pursued her nursing career in Chicago. She and Wayne Joanis were united in marriage, in Lincoln, Nebraska, on September 5, 1942. She returned to Chicago and eventually the family moved to Bayfield where she worked at the PureAir Sanitorium. In 1958 they moved to Ashland. She continued her nursing career at the Ashland Community Hospital, Saint Joseph Hospital and lastly as Head Nurse at Memorial Medical Center, retiring in 1985. She was a member of: Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church Altar Society, in Ashland; the Bayfield American Legion Auxiliary; Saint Joseph’s Hospital Alumni Association; and the Western Fraternal Legion Association (ZCBJ). She was a loving wife and mother who enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and her extended family.

Survivors include: her children; Bob (Judy) of Evergreen, Colorado; Michael (Linda), of Eau Claire, Wisconsin; Larry (Susan), of Ashland; David (Ginger), of Howard, Wisconsin; and Debra (Robert Polencheck) Joanis, of Ashland; and one daughter-in-law: Jaci Joanis, of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin. Helen is also survived by: her grandchildren: Lisa (Eric) Teman, Steven (Hollie) Joanis, Lauren (Chris) Wells, Brian (Lara) Joanis, Kimberly (Charles) Tassoul, Bruce (Mary) Joanis, Shelly (John Gessert) Joanis, Brad (Jessica) Joanis, Eric (Kaylyn) Joanis, Jenna Joanis, Jonathan (Lindsay) Joanis, Jessica Joanis, Dena (John) Pankratz and Lee (Katrina) Polencheck; and her great-grandchildren: Shane, Robbie, Josie, Trent, Hailey, Briann, Brandan, Jackie, Cody, Gracie, Skylar, Shaine, Logan, Remington and Chloe. She is also survived by: one brother, James Dvorak, of Albuquerque, New Mexico; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by: her husband, Wayne, (on September 22, 1971); one son, James; her parents; Frank and Mayme; one sister, Marilyn Nelson; and two brothers: Fran Dvorak and Father Gerald Dvorak, O.F.M.

A visitation, for family and friends, will be held at the Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, in Ashland, beginning at 10 a.m., Friday, April 27, 2012, and continuing until the hour of the service.

A Mass of Christian Burial, for Helen, will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, April 27, 2012, at the Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, in Ashland. Father Paul Paré, O.F.M. will be the Celebrant. Jane E. Warren

Jane E. Warren, age 54, of Ashland, Wisconsin, passed away on Wednesday, April 4, 2012, at the Northern Lights Health Care Center, in Washburn, Wisconsin, after a long and courageous battle with multiple sclerosis.

Jane was born on July 15, 1957, in Racine, Wisconsin, the daughter of Gene E. and Mary Alice (Allen) Lamberton. She graduated from Case High School in 1975, and attended Gateway Technical College, in Racine, to become a Medical Assistant. After working for several years, she returned to Gateway, and completed her LPN degree. She worked at Saint Mary’s Medical Center, in Racine. She and Scott H. Warren, M.D., were united in marriage, in Racine, on October 30, 1982.. They moved to Akron, Ohio, where they lived during his orthopedic training. In 1988 the Warrens moved to Ashland, where they raised their two daughters, Alisa and Jenna. Jane was a member of the United Presbyterian Congregational Church in Ashland and past president of the Ashland-Bayfield-Iron Counties Medical Society Auxiliary. She enjoyed reading, art, ceramics, needle point, gardening and horses, especially fostering her daughter’s riding and showing activities.

Survivors include: her husband, Dr. Scott H. Warren, of Ashland; her daughters: Alisa (Grant) Kolwitz, of Mason, Wisconsin; and Jenna (Daniel Vernon) Warren, of Ashland; her mother, Mary A. Lamberton, of Brookfield, Wisconsin; her sister, Nora (Dennis) Schumacher, of Waukesha, Wisconsin; nieces, nephews and special friends, George and Louise Vernon.

She was preceded in death by: her father, Gene Lamberton; and her grandparents.

A gathering, for family and friends, will be held at the United Presbyterian Congregational Church, in Ashland, beginning at 1 p.m., Saturday, April 14, 2012, and continuing until the hour of service.

A memorial service for Jane will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, April 14, 2012, at the United Presbyterian Congregational Church in Ashland. Dr. Darrel M. Robertson will officiate.

Interment in the Mount Hope Cemetery, Ashland, will follow the memorial service.

It was Jane’s wish that in lieu of flowers, memorials be given in her name to the United Presbyterian Congregational Church in Ashland or the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Anne Margaret Justice

Anne Margaret Mikulich Justice, age 88, of Mellen, Wisconsin, passed away on Sunday, April 1, 2012, at the Mellen Manor Nursing Home, in Mellen.

Anne was born on November 21, 1923, in Highbridge, Wisconsin, the daughter of John and Mary (Russ) Mikulich. She and Joseph F. Justice, of Coria, Wisconsin, were united in marriage, at the Saint Agnes Catholic Church, in Ashland, Wisconsin, on November 22, 1942. Her education began in the rural Krause School. She graduated from the Mellen High School in 1942. She then attended the Ashland County Normal where she graduated in 1943. She then taught at the Grage School and Coria School. She finished her education, while teaching, by going to night classes and summer schools at the University of Wisconsin-Superior. She received her Bachelor of Science in education in 1955. She also continued to earn credits beyond her B.S. In 1974 she was selected as an “Outstanding Elementary Teacher of America.” Anne taught for over 40 years, at the Mellen Public School, before retiring on November 30, 1985. Anne was a member of the Wisconsin Retired Teachers-Chequamegon Bay Area. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, in Mellen. She loved sports, attending all baseball games when her husband Joe played. Later attending all the sports in which her son, Jerry, played and took great joy in following her students in their sports games. Her love for the Green Bay Packers was evident in the green and gold hats, Christmas bells, slippers and pillows she made and distributed to family and friends. She enjoyed crafts and sewing and was accomplished at all she tried. She had a cookbook published with her favorite recipes including the many homemade after dinner liquors she made and bottled for friends. She had a passion for card games and regularly played bridge and poker with her friends in Mellen. Many hours were spent at the Black Jack table at Bad River Casino and enjoyed the friendship of many of the employees there. Anne loved to travel. Her travels took her to 14 national parks, north to Canada and south to Mexico and a Caribbean Cruise. In 1979 she and Joe traveled to Brazil. She was an ardent golfer and was an active member of the Mellen Golf Course for 50 years. Living across from the Mellen Golf Course she played every day it didn’t rain. She was most proud of the day she golfed 54 holes before dark. At the height of her golf career she was champion at least once in Ashland, Hayward, Eagle Bluff, Ironwood, Park Falls, Spider Lake, Ontonagon, Medford and her home course, Mellen. On July 22, 1986 she had a golfer’s dream with a “hole in one” at the Mellen Golf Course. Anne chaired the woman’s golf activities for several years. She loved to make up games to include everyone in the winning circle.

Anne is survived by her son, Jerry (Lea), of Clam Lake, Wisconsin, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by: her husband Joe, on May 6, 2003; her parents; siblings: Josephine Grage, Mary Murphy, Frank Mikulich, Katherine Fiene, Toni Baldwin and Joe Mikulich.

A gathering, for family and friends, will be held at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, in Mellen, beginning at 10 a.m., Thursday, April 5, 2012, and continuing until the hour of service.

A Memorial Service for Anne will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, April 5, 2012, at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, in Mellen. Father William Brenna will officiate.

Interment in the Mellen Union Cemetery, in Mellen, will follow the memorial service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made, in Anne’s name, to the Alzheimer’s Association-Wisconsin Chapter, 2900 Curry Lane, Suite A, Green Bay, Wisconsin 54311 or to the charity of one’s choosing.

Elsie J. Hecimovich

Elsie J. Hecimovich, age 88, of Sanborn, Wisconsin, passed away on Tuesday, March 27, 2012, at the Ashland Health & Rehabilitation Center, in Ashland, Wisconsin.

Elsie was born on October 13, 1923, in Sanborn, the daughter of Joseph and Dragia (Polic) Tody. She and Joseph C. Hecimovich were united in marriage, in Sanborn, on August 12, 1944. Joe and Elsie farmed, in the town of White River, for many years. After retirement, they moved to a home not far from the farm. She was a member of the Saint Anne’s Catholic Church, in Sanborn. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Elsie is survived by: her daughter, Charmaine (Dale) Berweger, of Sanborn; her son, Gary (Ivette) Hecimovich, of Weyerhaeuser, Wisconsin; grandchildren: Dr. Kim Berweger, Todd (Kim) Berweger, Nicole and Kayla Hecimovich; and great-grandchildren, Kyle and Kara Berweger. Survivors also include: two sisters: Violet Oliphant, of Sanborn; and Lydia McDougal, of Bruce, Wisconsin; her brother-in-law, Bernard (Vivian) Hecimovich, of Benoit, Wisconsin; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by: her husband, Joe, on June 10, 1999; her parents; sisters, Mary Petrin, Ann Sechen, Rose Moen, Josie Kacmarcik and infant sister, Josie.

A gathering, for family and friends, will be held at the Saint Anne Catholic Church, in Sanborn, beginning at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, March 31, 2012, and continuing until the hour of service.

A Memorial Mass, for Elsie, will be held at 11 a.m, Saturday, March 31, 2012, at the Saint Anne Catholic Church, in Sanborn. Father William Brenna will be the Celebrant.

Interment will take place in Saint Agnes Cemetery, Ashland.

Carol Radlinger

Carol A. Radlinger, age 93, of Park Falls, Wisconsin, passed away on Thursday, March 22, 2012, at the Park Manor Nursing Home, in Park Falls.

Carol was born on December 23, 1918, in Kaiser, Wisconsin, the daughter of Joel and Edna (Hanson) Smith. She attended grade school at Wilson School, in Kaiser, and graduated from the Butternut, Wisconsin, High School in 1937. She and Michael R. Radlinger were united in marriage, in Park Falls, on October 12, 1940. She was a homemaker and cooked at Saint Anthony Catholic School, in Park Falls, for over 17 years. She enjoyed: knitting, cooking, baking and spending time with her grandsons.

Survivors include: her son, Ronald M. (Joanne) of Butternut, Wisconsin; grandsons: Michael (Caroline), Thomas (Shannon) and Timothy (Callie Jo); great-grandchildren: Delana, Shayla and Corbin; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by: her husband, Mike, on April 22, 2005; her son, Robert Joel; her parents; four sisters; and four brothers.

A visitation, for family and friends, will be held at the Saint Anthony Catholic Church, in Park Falls, beginning at 11 a.m. Monday, March 26, 2012, and continuing until the hour of service.

A Mass of Christian Burial, for Carol, will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, March 26, 2012, at the Saint Anthony Catholic Church, in Park Falls. Father Daniel Gonzalez will be the Celebrant. The casket bearers will include: Michael Radlinger, Thomas Radlinger, Timothy Radlinger, Edgar DeLeasky, Ron DeLeasky, and Larry Hinton.

Interment in the Nola Cemetery, Park Falls, will follow the Mass.

Roxanne R. Owens, age 39, of Park Falls, Wisconsin, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 20, 2012, at Flambeau Hospital, in Park Falls.

Roxanne was born on July 21, 1972, in Ashland, Wisconsin, the daughter of Arnold R. and Frances D. (Weister) White. She and Jeffrey S. Owens were united in marriage, in Ashland, on February 28, 2011. She enjoyed life, baking, traveling with her husband as an over the road truck driver and her family. She was raised in Ashland and attended school there until she moved to Mellen, Wisconsin, and attended high school there. She worked at Lakewood’s and at Express-Mart, in Mellen. Her greatest joy was her son Randy.

Survivors include: her husband, Jeff, of Park Falls; her son, Randy, of Mellen; her parents, Arnie and Fran White, of Mellen; sisters: Shannon Pack, of Park Falls; Melanie White, of Minneapolis, Minnesota; and Kori Reitveld, of Phillips, Wisconsin; nieces: Courtney, Hailey and Taylor; nephew, Charles; aunts; uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents: Wallace & Mary Weister and Tony & Joyce White; and her uncle, Wallace Weister, Jr.

A visitation, for family and friends will be held at the Mountain Funeral Home, in Mellen, from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, March 23, 2012; and resume at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, in Mellen, on Saturday, from 10 a.m. until the hour of service.

A Mass of Christian Burial, for Roxanne, will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 24, 2012, at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, in Mellen. Father William Brenna will be the Celebrant. The casket bearers will include: Charles Reitveld, Daniel Peltonen, Kenneth White, Bruce Weister, Russell Karow, and Steven White.

Interment in the Clam Lake Cemetery, Clam Lake, Wisconsin, will follow the Mass.

Our Mellen chapel will be assisting Roxanne’s family with her memorialization,.
